FAQs…

This section will hopefully answer our new and/or potential owner’s most commonly asked questions.

And will also be a great resource if questions arise down the road. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, don’t panic…we are a simple phone call, text or email away and are always available to answer any questions you may have.

Q: At what age will my puppy be ready to come home with me?

A: In general, our French Bulldog puppies are ready to go to their forever homes at 8 weeks of age. Puppies who will be flying on an airplane are not released until they are 9-10 weeks of age (and have received their second set of vaccinations).

Q: How involved are waiting list clients in the process, and how often will updates be sent out?

A: It is our opinion that we are on this journey together! We keep our clients and families well informed and completely in the loop for the entire process. We communicate primarily through email, which generally goes out once per week. We also post consistent updates with pictures and video on our social media platforms multiple times per week (and sometimes per day).

Q: What puppy curriculum do you use for your program?

A: Our French Bulldog puppies are raised in our home in a very hands-on, loving environment. We follow the Bad Ass Breeder Puppy Curriculum developed by 4E Kennels, combined with some Puppy Culture inspired curriculum. We are also firm believers in Early Neurological Stimulation (Early Neurological Stimulation | Breeding Better Dogs). Timing is everything when raising puppies, and the curriculum that we follow is very deliberate, and introduces new sights, sounds, textures, items at the correct time in the puppies development, which results in happy, well-rounded and emotionally stable puppies. We also start the process of potty training, as well as crate introduction prior to the puppies going to their forever homes.

Q: Will my puppy receive any vaccinations prior to coming home with me?

A: The majority of our puppies are ready to go to their forever homes at 8 weeks of age and will have received their first set of vaccinations at 6 weeks of age. We recommend scheduling an appointment with your veterinarian several weeks in advance prior to puppy pick up day, as your puppy will be due for their second set of shots when they go home with you at 8 weeks of age. In the state of Utah, most Veterinarians recommend the following vaccination schedule for puppies: 6 weeks, 8-9 weeks, 12 weeks and the final set at 16 weeks of age. **PLEASE NOTE: Your puppy is NOT fully vaccinated until their 4th set of shots have been received. Until all vaccinations have been received, your puppy is still fragile, and at risk of contracting dangerous and contagious illnesses like Parvo Virus, which can be life-threatening. Therefore, it is recommended that you protect your puppy until they are fully vaccinated by avoiding areas where unknown dogs may congregate (example: Dog Parks, Dog community potty areas, Pet stores, etc). It is better to be safe than sorry. Consider holding your puppy or use a puppy stroller in areas you are unsure of to prevent your puppy for unintentionally coming into contact with illnesses and/or viruses that can survive in surfaces for up to 10 years. If you have any questions on this, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Q: Are we able to see the puppies in person prior to selection?

A: Yes, absolutely! Having the opportunity to meet the puppies in person, play, bond and get some much-needed puppy cuddle time is a very important part of this process. We schedule an in-home puppy visitation day (also puppy selection day) when the puppies are around 6 weeks old. This age is one of my favorite stages! They are roly-poly and adorable, curious, sweet, and their personalities really start to shine at this stage. We also offer FaceTime to those that are unable to attend puppy visitation day in person.

Q: What is the process for reserving my puppy?

A: At 6 weeks of age, the puppies will go into our licensed Veterinarian’s office, where each puppy will be thoroughly examined for health certification and will also receive their first set of vaccinations. The puppies will be available to reserve after this 6 week visit so that our clients have full disclosure if there are any issues that come up during their health certification.

Puppy selection is done IN PERSON. We feel that it is very important to be able to see all of the puppies in person and be able to cuddle and play with the puppies before you make your selection for your forever fur-family member.

There is a $400 non-refundable deposit to reserve your puppy, which will be applied to the total purchase price. **Please note: Lake Point French Bulldogs LLC does reserve the right for 1st pick from every litter we produce.

In the rare situation where a puppy is diagnosed with a condition during their 6-week visit, that puppy will be available (with full disclosure) at an extremely discounted rate (or no charge depending on the circumstances and to the right loving and compatible home).

We completely understand that not everyone is equipped or have the desire to care for a puppy who may have special needs, and there is no judgement at all. While this scenario is extremely unlikely, we do want to offer this assurance.

Q: What will my puppy come home with?

A: Your French Bulldog puppy will go home pre-cuddled and pre-spoiled. Temperament tested and started on potty training and crate training. They will also go home with a puppy pack with the following paperwork and LOTS of goodies:

  • Pre-paid AKC Registration

  • 1st set of Vaccinations, Fecal Test Results, & Health Certification Letter

  • 3.3 lb. Bag of Farmina Puppy Kibble (High-Quality food)

  • Pumpkin powder & probiotic packages (for digestive health)

  • Small blanket with mom and littermate's scent.

  • Package of 25-count puppy pee pads & eco-friendly poop baggies

  • Toys

  • Chew treats (Pig Ears) & a package of Training Treats

  • Puppy shampoo & Nose Butter

  • Collar

  • Elevated and Tilted Puppy Food Bowl

  • New Minky Couture blanket

Q: What is the difference between Limited AKC Registration and Full AKC Registration?

A: Limited AKC registration, means that your puppy is being purchased as a pet only. Your puppy is eligible for registration through the AKC, but any litters produced by your dog are NOT eligible for AKC registration. In contrast, Full AKC registration means that your puppy is being purchased with full breeding rights, and any future litters will be eligible for AKC registration.

We prefer to sell our puppies with limited AKC registration for pet-only homes. However, Full AKC registration can be discussed and is available on a limited case-by-case basis for an additional fee.

Q: What is OFA and CHIC certification?

A: OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) is an organization whose mission is to promote health and welfare of companion animals through reduction in the incidence of genetic disease. The OFA partners with your breed’s parent club (in our case The French Bulldog Club of America) to determine which tests/radiographs they recommend for breeding stock. Once those tests have been completed, the OFA assigns a CHIC number for CHIC certification.

For buyers, the CHIC program provides accurate information about the results of a breeder’s health testing. It also reflects the breeder’s dedication to health in their breeding program.

For us at Lake Point French Bulldogs, we believe OFA testing and CHIC certification are a crucial part of responsible breeding. Health is one of our top priorities and we are very proud to be a part of the amazing group of breeders who have done their due diligence to do the necessary testing to improve the breed, and produce healthy, high-quality French Bulldog puppies. Our OFA/CHIC Certifications and Genetic Health Testing results are posted under the “Our Frenchies” menu section.
